This little girl made a very good point.
Three ladies came into the store the other day -- a little girl - no more than 3, her mother and her grandmother. Mom and Grandma shopped while this little girl played by the cash desk at the kitchen that we have set up in our store.
When Mom and Grandma were done shopping and had paid for their purchases, Mom said, "Ok, let's go Clara."
Clara said, "No, I'm not ready to go. I'm making a cake."
Mom said, "We can come back next time to play. We have to go."
Grandma tried to help by explaining to Clara that they had to go as well because they had to go home to make dinner, but Clara insisted on staying a little longer. She just wasn't done baking the cake that she had just put into the oven.
So Grandma tried to offer a compromise. "How about we let her play for another 5 minutes?"
Mom replied, "No, we can't because we are already late picking up her brother from school and I still have a lot to do before I can even begin getting dinner ready." Mom turned to Clara and said, "Look Clara, we really have to go."
Clara said, "Mommy, Grandma is your mommy. You don't have to listen to YOUR mommy. Why do I have to listen to you?"
At that point I could only smile at the brilliance of this little girl. :)
