Dads-to-Be! Announce Your Big News with BellyMan

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011

(http://www NULL.bellymanclothing NULL.com/) (http://www NULL.bellymanclothing NULL.com/)
Yay, BellyMan (http://www NULL.bellymanclothing NULL.com/)! We just love this line of vintage-inspired, uber-soft T’s for dads-to-be. Thanks to a lovely dandelion KIDS client for showing us her niece’s cool line.

BellyMan (http://www NULL.bellymanclothing NULL.com/) offers dads the chance to wear their paternity proudly but subtly. Authentic, unique, with universal appeal and sure to spark loads of conversations. Created by a Chicago couple with babies and business on the brains. As parents to two trendsetting toddlers, they understand and appreciate the role that both parents play — from the time they conceive, onward. Noticing a vacancy in attire for expectant men, they birthed BellyMan.

Check out their website: http://www.bellymanclothing.com/ (http://www NULL.bellymanclothing NULL.com/)

Light Up the Room

(http://shop NULL.dandelionkids NULL.ca/index NULL.php?search=porcelain%20lamp)

Beautiful, delicate matte porcelain lamps that are sweet enough for a child’s room but cool enough for a cosmopolitan livingroom. The translucent lamps emit a soft, warm glow that can help soothe a little one to sleep or simply create a nice ambiance.

Now, which one to choose?

Bilibo Imagination Toy

Friday, January 21st, 2011

Bilibo. (http://shop NULL.dandelionkids NULL.ca/132 NULL.html) It’s a magic imagination toy. Offered in 6 bright, beautiful colours in a hard-wearing shell shape. Kids LOVE these!

Parents are quick to ask “What is it?” when they see Bilibos (http://shop NULL.dandelionkids NULL.ca/132 NULL.html) in dandelion KIDS (http://www NULL.dandelionkids NULL.ca) …so we just let kids tell the story …”Oh, I see, they can be ANYTHING!”

A Hat?

Sit and spin using legs, helping to develop leg strength and coordination.

Sit and rock in it, helping to build core strength and balance.

Turn it over and stand on top, helping to develop balance and core strength.

Eat your popcorn out of it!

The shells are also used in physiotherapy to stimulate the vestibular and proprioceptive  (perception of movement) systems.

It’s an imagination toy – used for role and fantasy play. Fill it with stuff : sand, water, baby dolls. The Bilibo  even floats, it’s sturdy enough for leapfrog, good as a hat for Dad, works as a stool…as a sled (though instructions clearly say its not a sled, wink wink), on the carpet it’s best!
Dandelion also carries  Mini Bilibos (http://shop NULL.dandelionkids NULL.ca/bilmin1 NULL.html)which can become a spinning top, a boat in the bath tub, a treasure trove, a game piece, an exotic shell, a designer’s seat for a doll, a cup for snow balls, a circle ramp for toy cars….children will use their imaginations to quickly find many wonderful ways to play with the Minis!
Bilibo has received several international awards, including Spiel Gut in Germany (http://www NULL.spielgut NULL.org/welcome NULL.htm), the Swiss Product Design Award in 2002 and Toy of the Year – UK Good Toy Awards (http://www NULL.toyshopuk NULL.co NULL.uk/awards/) in 2006.

Wooden blocks – the building blocks of communication

Monday, November 29th, 2010

We are so excited about these stunning wooden learning blocks, especially the Braille/Sign-Language (http://shop NULL.dandelionkids NULL.ca/block04 NULL.html) set!

Stack ‘em up, knock ‘em down. Spell a word or two. We love the simplicity and enduring value of Uncle Goose basswood blocks. Without batteries and moving parts, blocks are often a child’s favourite toy. Simple wooden blocks help children learn and build fine motor skills and develop their imaginations. Made in the USA from sustainable Michigan basswood since 1983. These learning blocks meet all U.S. and European safety standards, and feature child-safe non-toxic inks.

Uncle Goose is as concerned about our environment as we are. The wood used is farmed, planted and harvested on industry-managed land around the Great Lakes. Their manufacturing process minimizes waste, both in production and packaging.

Other languages are available through special order:  Danish, Dutch, Hebrew, Norwegian, Polish, Russian and Spanish.

UBC Apple Festival

Thursday, October 14th, 2010

(http://www NULL.ubcbotanicalgarden NULL.org/)

We can’t wait to head out to the UBC Botanical Garden (http://www NULL.ubcbotanicalgarden NULL.org/) this weekend for the 20th anniversary of the UBC Apple Festival. There will be over 37,000+ pounds of apples including 9000 pounds of the freshest yummiest organic apples around. Last year, there were apples as big as the kids’ heads. Now there’s a good healthy snack!

The event is on all weekend (October 16 and 17) from 11 am to 4pm. The Apple Festival includes free valet bike parking, a really awesome children’s area with all sorts of apple themed games, crafts and activities for the little ones. The delightful yoymama.ca will also be there with a craft table and super give-away. Plus, lively Grist to the Mill (http://gttm NULL.blogspot NULL.com/search/label/about%20the%20band), will be playing a family friendly concert from 1-2pm on both days. Did we mention that there is also apple pie, hot apple cider and other delectable treats?

Unbelievably, admission is only $2.00 (kids 12 and under are free) and includes entrance to the whole, gorgeous Botanical Garden. If you haven’t had a chance to enjoy the Greenheart Canopy Walkway (http://greenheartcanopywalk NULL.reachlocal NULL.com/coupon/?scid=1995844&cid=634728&tc=10101223434349951&rl_key=00465018e58b98b1367280318d9422fa&kw=13614090&dynamic_proxy=1&primary_serv=greenheartcanopywalk NULL.reachlocal NULL.net&se_refer=http%253A%252F%252Fwww NULL.google NULL.ca%252Fsearch%253Fq%253Dubc%252Bbotanical%252Bgardens%2526ie%253Dutf-8%2526oe%253Dutf-8%2526aq%253Dt%2526rls%253Dorg NULL.mozilla%253Aen-US%253Aofficial%2526client%253Dfirefox-a&pub_cr_id=5683987910), there is a 15% discount with admission to the Apple Festival. It’s amazing.

If you would like to taste the over 60 varieties of heritage, new and “tried and true” varieties available, go early to the apple tasting. This yummy diversion is an additional $3.00 but we think it is entirely worth it. Yum.
