Commercial Drive Winter Festival this Saturday November 28th

The Commercial Drive Winter Festival is this Saturday, November 28th at the Britannia Community Centre, running from 1:30 pm – 9:00 pm. The event includes ice skating with Santa, a showing of the classic holiday movie “Miracle on 34th Street”, trees on display decorated by local schools, and prizes under the trees! Prizes include an iPod and Wii.

Winter Festival is a FREE community event, and they will be collecting non-perishable food items and donating concession sales proceeds to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. The holiday trees along with food and toy baskets will be donated to local charities.

Actress Jennifer Beals’ Commercial Drive

Jennifer Beals was propelled to fame as a welder in the 1983 film Flashdance. Now she’s better known as workaholic Bettie Porter in The L Word. Entering it’s fifth season, the TV drama is set in West Hollywood but filmed in Vancouver, where Beals shares a home with her husband and two-year-old daughter.
