Rub-a-dub-dub…babies in a tub!

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

Babies and toddlers absolutely love bath-time!

Here a few of our favourite products for making it even more soothing, fun, splashy or whatever works for your family:

Little Twig Bubble Bath and Baby Wash (http://shop NULL.dandelionkids NULL.ca/index NULL.php?search=little%20twig) helps make the bath even more relaxing. Available in 2 subtle scents as well as Unscented for more sensitive babies.  Little Twig products are made in the USA.

Weleda’s Calendula Baby line (http://shop NULL.dandelionkids NULL.ca/index NULL.php?search=weleda) is of the highest quality and made in Germany. We especially like the Calendula Shampoo and Body Wash and the Calendula Oil for a soothing after bath massage.

For a more active bath-time, splish splash around with cool bath toys like phthalate-free Water Squirts, BPA-, PVC-, and Phthalate-free Green Toys Tugboats (http://shop NULL.dandelionkids NULL.ca/tug01r-a NULL.html), made of 100% recycled plastic milk jugs in the USA, and Dano Duckis, (http://shop NULL.dandelionkids NULL.ca/index NULL.php?search=ducki) also  BPA-, PVC-, and Phthalate-free.

Once baby is all wrapped up in a cosy hooded towel (http://shop NULL.dandelionkids NULL.ca/index NULL.php?search=towel) like those by Canadian company 3 Sprouts, the Boon Frog or Bug Pod (http://shop NULL.dandelionkids NULL.ca/index NULL.php?search=pod)will help you clean up with ease. Just scoop up all those fun toys and, voila, a clean tub!

Now, if only there were some products to save you from getting completely soaked!

Body Heat – The Story of the Woodward’s Redevelopment

Monday, September 27th, 2010

(http://dandelionkids NULL.ca/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/image2981 NULL.jpg)

We have fond memories of going to Woodward’s as children, especially to look at their Christmas windows and eat frosted malt in their basement food floor! We are excited to read this book.

Body Heat: The Story of the Woodward’s Redevelopment.

Proclaiming the Woodward’s redevelopment, marketing billboards across Vancouver boldly promised ‘Community’. BODY HEAT tells the story of the Woodward’s Redevelopment in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver. The project is unique in the history of Vancouver due to its scale, inclusivity, social aspirations and the complexity of the partnerships required. The book features 23 interviews with key participants in the redevelopment process.

Larry Beasley – John Bishop – Lee Donohue – Stan Douglas – Robert Enright – Liz Evans – Michael Flanigan – Ken Fraser – Lee Gavel

Ian Gillespie – Jim Green – George Haywood – Scot Hein – Gregory Henriquez – Hal Kalman – Dave Leung – Kevan Losch – Chris Macdonald

Alberto Perez-Gomez – Shane Ramsay – Bob Rennie – John Richardson – Reid Shier – Jon Stovell – May So – Mark Townsend – Milton Wong – Peter Wood

BODY HEAT illustrates a community’s capacity to integrate the poetic and ethical dimensions of existence. The intention of the project and the book is to give meaningful expression to people’s daily struggles for survival and orientation, explore the partnerships needed to realize a larger social mission, and challenge today’s architects to build beautiful cities for all citizens.

The making of Dandelion KIDS Back to School Window

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

We’ve been asked many times where we get our ideas for our windows, so we thought we would share the building of our ‘Back to School’ window display at our Commercial Drive location.

All photos have been taken on the iPhone.

First:  We had the desks painted by our friend Sean at AL Creations. Thanks Sean!

Oh so neat and tidy all in a row.

Then Jimmy and Pete loaded them up and delivered them. Thanks Jimmy and Pete, we think you’re swell!

Then we stacked them and realized that we had to hold them in place while Greg used wire to secure them… This took many, many hours… We even ran out of wire and had to go get more.

But the wine helped us cope… See, now we’re smiling. Miss Maggie even gave us a leg up.

And voila!  We’re done.  Phew.
