New Products: Mini Mioche

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Just in time for Earth Day, we thought we’d blog about the ‘mini mioche’ way.

mini mioche says “Being green is cool”.

We agree! And it gets better: not only is mini mioche’s line of baby and toddler clothing made of 100% organic cotton, but it is also made in Toronto. mini mioche clothing is super soft and comfy, well made and darn cute!

Here a little more detail about their process:

All mini mioche clothing is inspired by and made according to the company’s values. In an industry dominated by production in low wage countries, ‘MADE IN CANADA’ is something rarely seen on the origin label of any fashion product. Each and every piece of mini mioche is designed and manufactured in Toronto, Canada. Our product is made in a safe, clean factory environment by skilled seamspeople who are paid a fair living wage.  mini mioche also believes you should be able to buy stylish, comfortable and affordable fashion for your little one without harming the environment, which is why all of our products are made with 100% certified organic cotton. mini mioche organic cotton is a more environmentally friendly option over conventional cotton clothing lines – which typically use chemicals and farming processes that are harmful to the environment.

Other ways we aim to leave as little carbon footprint as possible:

  • All of our printed materials, from hang tags to catalogs, are printed on 100% recycled materials.
  • We use water based or discharge prints for our graphics.
  • We use re-usable dyes for our fabrics.
  • We ship all of our online orders in re-usable organic cotton drawstring bags.
  • We do not ship our retail customers’ product in plastic bags, as the vast majority of apparel manufacturers do – we skip the extra packaging wherever possible.

You can find mini mioche’s products on our webstore (http://shop NULL.dandelionkids NULL.ca/index NULL.php?search=mini%20mioche).

mini mioche wrote about us on their blog (http://www NULL.minimiocheblog NULL.com/2010/02/cool-store-dandelion-kidsvancouver-bc NULL.html) back in February too…
Thanks for the love.

Wednesday Morning Story Time: Bruno Munari’s Zoo

Meet the kangaroo, who is all legs but doesn’t know it, the zebra in his striped pajamas, and the humpy camel, who has a seat for you. Young readers will enjoy Munari’s bright, bold illustrations; older readers will appreciate his wry humor.

From children to collectors, Bruno Munari’s Zoo is certain to enchant a whole new generation.

Ghost in the machine?

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

Our most loyal blog followers may have noticed that we really slowed down our blogging pace over the last few weeks. For that, we apologize. We’ve been dealing with some issues with our blog. What started as something small seemed to escalate as we starting looking into it, and as things sometimes will with computers… well, they kept getting worse. At any rate, we had lots of backups, but when your database is corrupt going a long way back, you just have to take it on the cheek and move on.

And that’s what we’ve done. We’ve rebuilt the blog and moved it to a faster server, so if our blog felt slow to load in the past… That’s history. We’re really looking forward to getting back into it now that things have all been taken care of – knock on silicon.

As far as ‘ghosts in the machine’ go, we’ll leave that to The Police (http://en NULL.wikipedia NULL.org/wiki/Ghost_in_the_Machine_%28album%29). They did it best. Believe it or not, that record turns 30 next year, and it still sounds amazing. Dust it off, and give it a listen.
