I was sorting through some photos from this past Summer (and what a Summer it was here in Vancouver!) when I was reminded of this photo. I meant to post it earlier, but it slipped my mind. The photo is timeless, and might just be the cutest photo ever! If you missed this earlier this summer, keep reading…
Melissa and Jackson Brandts, an American couple vacationing at Banff National Park were setting up their camera on a tripod to capture themselves in front of the beautiful lake when the squirrel was intrigued by the sounds of the camera auto-focusing. It ran into frame in front of the couple, and stole the spotlight the second the aperture went off on the camera. The photo certainly stood out to National Geographic – it was made their photo-of-the-day for August 13, 2009. You can see the full story about the photo here (http://photography NULL.nationalgeographic NULL.com/photography/photo-of-the-day/squirrel-portrait-banff-pod NULL.html).
Here’s what Melissa had to say about the photo:
My husband and I were exploring Lake Minnewanka in Banff National Park-Canada when we stopped for a timed picture of the two of us. We had our camera set up on some rocks and were getting ready to take the picture when this curious little ground squirrel appeared, became intriqued with the sound of the focusing camera and popped right into our shot! A once in a lifetime moment! We were laughing about this little guy for days!!
The photo made headlines around the world, including this story at the Canada.com (http://www NULL.canada NULL.com/technology/Banff+squirrel+photo+gets+huge+attention/1889605/story NULL.html). Be sure to watch the short video on that site too.
